Obituary

Percie Sherels was born January 9, 1939 in Canton Mississippi to Corrine and Percy Peale.

Percie, accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age.  She was a faithful member of South Calvary Baptist Church. She loved to sing and was a lead alto soloist.  If you heard Percie sing, she made you feel like you were in heaven.  She was also a cook for the church, this was another one of her gifts.

Percie held a variety of jobs such as cooking, cleaning, baby sitting and she retired from Logo 7.  She also enjoyed a good friendly game of cards with her nephew Anthony Holloway. Percie and Tony were always partners and would gladly talk you through with everyone laughing.  She was a comedian and had a gift to make you laugh. She received “The Watch Me Make God Laugh Award” presented to her by Pastor John Woodall.

Percie loved her flowers and would wake up early in the morning just so she could weed her beautiful flower out.  She won best yard from Mayor Bill Hudnut one year when she lived in the “hood”. She always said it wasn’t where you lived but how you lived.

Percie departed this life on February 24, 2002 at the age of 83. She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Mildred Jefferson and Anna Jefferson and son Derrick Sherels. She is survived by four children, Marvin Peale, Gregory Sherels, Yvette Sherels (Michele), Bruce Sherels; three sisters, Mavis Holloway and Ida Eldridge; ten grandchildren, Quinn McCallister, LaManda Perryman, Kierra Vaden, John Sherels, Destiny & Gregory Sherels, Shannon Williams, Lakis & Antionette; four great-grandchildren, Nevaeh M, Terrace H, Lavion P, Dewayne W, and a host of nieces, nephews church family and friends.
