Noline Keller Obituary

Noline (Crenshaw) Keller was born December 24, 1927 to the late Roy Acey
Crenshaw and Nettie Claire Clark in Indianapolis, IN; down the street not far from here. She
had the interesting distinction, like her older brother ‘Cha B’, that for her whole life she had
never lived more than a couple of blocks, if that, from where she was raised as a child. Her
mom and dad, raised her, the baby girl of three siblings, with love and respect for family.
She taught that to her children, her nieces and nephew, and any other kids who made their
way into her sphere of inuence. Her deepest love and pride was being with her family, her
grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed going to Kentucky (down home) as
much as she could.
If you asked Mrs. Keller how she was doing, her pat answer told you everything: “I can’t
complain, wouldn’t do no good anyway.” This is how she handled life.
Noline attended public school #19 and attended Crispus Attucks highschool. She was married
to Rufus Keller Sr in September of 1950 and raised 3 children. She worked many jobs including
L.S. Ayres, City County Government and the State Oce Building where she retired from over
30+ years.
By her only son’s recollection, she enjoyed donating to various charities. She was baptized and
a longtime member of New Gareld Baptist Church where she served on the Nurse’s Guild
and on the Kitchen Ministry. She loved the Lord and taught her children the importance of
prayer. She would often say “just pray about it”. Even though she never thought of it as a
ministry, she sent cards to many people in the church and neighborhood where she lived and
beyond. Though she was little in statue, she had a big heart. Noline was proud of her children
and often commented how they never gave her too much trouble. She was even more proud of
her grandchildren who aectionately called her “Granny” and she was very proud of her great-
grandsons.
Mrs. Keller was preceded in death by her father: Roy Acey Crenshaw, mother: Nettie Claire
Clark, her sister: Pauline Davenport, brother: Charles B ‘Cha B’ Crenshaw Sr., husband: Rufus
Keller Sr., and her niece: VaNette (Fancy) Ash. She leaves to mourn her passing children:
