Obituary

Mitchell I Hockett, Sr. was born July 17, 1926 to s Hockett and Ruth Robinson in Union City, Tennessee. In 1953 Mitchell married Ava Nell Gamon and they moved to Indianapolis, Indiana.  To this union two sons were born, Mitchell, Jr and William. Mitchell enlisted in the United States Army in 1945 and was a truck driver, and received an American Campaign Medal, Army of Occupation Medal and World War II Victory Medal. Later he was employed at the Highland Country Club where he worked for 21 years. As a hobby he had his own hauling business. On February 27, 2022 Mitchell passed away peacefully with his family by his side.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sons, great-grandson and siblings. Mitchell leaves to cherish his memory, grandchildren, Chiquita Witherspoon, Mechelle Hockett (Thomas), Jeremy Hockett (Janet) Aunye Hockett, Tatoro Esco, Laquaonda Brooks and eight great-grandchildren, a host of other family and friend
