FRANK COURTNEY JR. was born to the proud parents of Frank Courtney Sr. and Mary R Courtney on August 17, 1947 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Frank attended grade school #37 (Hazel Hart Hendricks) from 1952-1961, graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1965 then pursued a higher education at College of San Mateo in San Mateo, California from 1974-1976. Frank displayed a strong work ethic at an early age by beginning his career at A & P grocery as a store clerk, along with seasonal entrepreneurship of selling shopping bags. After graduating high school, he began working for RCA until 1966 when drafted into the US Military/ Army. He was deployed to Vietnam where he served as Private E-1 in the Vietnam War until 1968 when he formally completed his tour of duty with honorably discharged of service. Upon Frank’s military release he returned to RCA for 2 years. Frank officially met Sadie V. Brown in 1968 and ultimately moved to California. Upon his arrival to San Francisco, California in 1970, Frank began his career as a technician for Western Electric. In 1972, he married Sadie V. Brown. They birthed first born and daughter, Monica L Courtney in 1974 and son, Frank JD Courtney in 1978. Frank also worked for Pacific Bell as a Field Manager, where he proudly worked 20+ years until his retirement in 1991. Upon his retirement, Frank and his family settled in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1992.
When returning to Indianapolis, Indiana, he worked as a forklift driver for Excel Distribution in 1997. He then transferred to Genco-Stryker of Plainfield Distribution while ending his career at FedEx Supply Chain Inc. Frank was a committed believer of Jesus Christ. He became a proud member of Word of Faith Christian Church, Pastor Julius Stephens and First Lady Carol Stephens. He accepted Christ and was baptized in 2005.
Frank was one of many gifts, musically, intellectually and morally. He had a great fondness for music and found great reward in playing various instruments. He can be found most famous for his profound flute improvisations. He loved the sciences and technology and could always be found current with new scientific discoveries or the latest gadgets. He absolutely loved to dance and was not shy when an opportunity to dance presented itself. Frank was the true definition of love. He loved God, immediate and extended family, friends, colleagues and his country. He loved LIFE!! He was well known as the advisor on the go, he could be found counseling in almost any setting. A true giver at heart, Frank’s selfless personality will be remembered by many who knew him. Amongst many memorable moments, Frank enjoyed the ongoing laughter between him and brothers Ronald and David! Such moments of laughter were medicine to his soul and a sign of lifelong connections.
Frank transition from this life to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 28, 2021. He was proceeded in death by parents, Frank Courtney Sr and Mary R Courtney, brothers Gerald Courtney, Paul Courtney and Michael Courtney and granddaughter, Rhilee M Courtney.
Frank will forever live in the hearts of wife, Sadie V Courtney, children Monica L Courtney and Frank JD Courtney, granddaughter Sadie M Courtney, goddaughter, Kasiaa T Thomas, siblings Betty J Coleman, Ronald Courtney (Carol) and David Courtney; sisters-in-law, Thelma Williams, Beverly Morris, Cynthia Morris (Cletus), Ruth Blake, and brother-in-law, David Brown. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, close friends and colleagues.
