Carmen Holloway was born March 16, 1958, in Indianapolis, Indiana to parents Joseph and Mavis Holloway. Carmen was the third of four children born. Carmen went to IPS schools all through her school career and graduated from Arlington High School in 1976. She was a member of the F.C.A. (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) and the Student Council while cheerleading, playing basketball, and running track. She also met her first love, Melvin Taylor while they both attended high school together. After her graduation they were married and relocated to Texas. Before going to Texas, Carmen studied to be an EEG technician at Riley Hospital for Children and enjoyed that field of work for many years. She also worked in this field at Parkland Hospital in Texas.
Carmen gave birth to two children, Sherita Taylor and Abel Mayes III. She gave her life to Christ at the age of 12 years old, at South Calvary Baptist Church. She was a member at Ben Washington Baptist Church in Irving, Texas for many years. She served in several ministries there. She was employed at the Dallas County Sheriff Department for almost 10 years and was still employed there until her passing. Carmen enjoyed word search puzzles, traveling, and shopping.
Carmen was preceded in death by her father and two brothers, Ryan Holloway and Dwight Holloway.
Carmen Holoway leaves behind her two children, Sherita Bailey (Minister Jimmy Bailey) and Abel T. Mayes III, her mother Mavis Holloway, her five grandchildren, Lauren Thomas, Elijah Bailey, Javenai Shanks, Cydney Bailey, and Justin Taylor, and her great-grandson Divine Patterson; brothers, Joseph (Mickey) Holloway, Anthony Holloway, and Kevin Holloway; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and a multitude of friends because she never met a stranger.
